U13s succumb to the cold and a keen Billericay team
The eagerly anticipated return match between Chingford and Billericay saw the Ching 13's travel to the Bees to see if they could score a 2 and 0 over our local rivals. If they were going to do it, it was going to be in wind and snow. Game kicked off......
Chingford, almost from the start, took the ball into Billericay's half. A Seb kick allowed Oliver to chase the ball down and pressure the defence. A steal and a score. Billericay 0, Chingford 5.
After the restart, Chingford were able to consolidate their defence, especially with Arthur putting in repeated good tackles. Good locking in resulted in excellent defence. Oliver, Oskar and Seb backed up the tackling, Joe picking a good line to take the pressure off Chingford.
Billericay, getting into the game, equalised and then went ahead with penetrating runs into the Ching line. Will grabbed a pick and run to equalise with Miles and Daragh setting the ruck. Billericay scored again right on half time leaving the game in the balance.
Half time, Billericay 15, Chingford 10
The second half goes almost non reported. Mitigation includes First Aid duties, but snow, sleet and frostbite are contributory factors. Roy, Kayden, Charlie, Ryan, Jack and Mason all need a mention. Mason's tackle on the biggest player on the whole pitch needs an additional nod. Suffice to say the game got away from us. Full time Billericay 30, Chingford 10. One game each and enjoyable to watch.
